These barrels are fully functional but have been in the shop for a while. They didn’t sell for a few reasons. Sometimes the char and toast combo is less common. Other times they spent extra time with a local merchant or just don’t look as clean as the rest. Take a look at the photos to make sure they’re a good fit for your project. They’re solid and will give your spirits good flavor. They’re fully hydrated and will need to be filled with spirits or water as soon as they arrive. It’s a good chance to pick them up at a discounted price.

I have 9 of them now and i will definitely need more
Great barrel that I filled with heirloom corn whiskey. No leaks or problems so far.
Barrel is in great shape. Soaked it for a day, filled it up and now I wait.
I highly recommend you grab one of these unique barrels. American chestnut wood contributes a historical significance to your distilling project and and is an exceedingly rare wood. My barrel was leaky for several days but swelled and sealed with no further issues. So make sure you follow the recommendation for extended soaking, prior to filling. I don’t know what kind of characteristics this will contribute to the rye I filled it with, but am excited to try it in a couple years.
This was exactly the barrel I was looking for my Bourbon recipe. Now we wait 2 years for the results!
