Every now and then, especially during periods of low humidity or high temperatures, your barrel may develop minor seepage. This is completely normal. As the wood dries, tiny gaps can open between the staves or where the staves meet the stainless steel. In most cases, these gaps will close on their own once the barrel rehydrates and the wood swells back into place.

Our Beeswax Seal Kit gives you an easy way to temporarily seal these small gaps while your barrel naturally seals itself. The kit includes a 60 mL aluminum tin containing approximately 2 oz (57 g) of 100% organic beeswax. There are no artificial colors, fragrances, or additives, just pure beeswax in a reusable container.

How to Use

Melt a small amount of beeswax with a torch-style lighter or another suitable heat source, then allow it to drip into the dried gap. Once the wax has cooled and hardened, carefully scrape away any excess with a chisel or similar tool.

• Approximately 2 oz (57 g) of 100% organic beeswax

A Few Things to Know:

This is a temporary solution for minor gaps. As your barrel rehydrates, it's common for the expanding wood to push the beeswax back out as the gap closes. That's exactly what you want to happen. The beeswax simply buys you time while the barrel does what it was designed to do.
